Before the two traditional powerhouses of Jefferson County face off tonight at Manual, each were in action last night and each posted wins.
Male got their sixth win of the season with a 5-2 victory over CAL. Leuthart tossed a complete game and got the win. Watkins smacked three hits for the Bulldogs and Thompson drove home two with two base hits.
Manual held off an Atherton comeback in the top of the seventh to get a 5-4 win. With the tying run just 90 feet away, the Crimsons were able to get a groundout to second to seal the win.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Manual's Evan Dilbeck drove in Will Britt with a sacrifice fly to tie the game. The Crimson took the lead for good with a 2-run bottom of the fourth, capped off by a Jackson Medley RBI single that scored Kameron Davis.
Since dropping their first four games, Manual has won five of six. The only loss being a 7-6 defeat to Saint Xavier on the road.
The game tonight between the Bulldogs and the Crimson will be at Derby City Field with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
